Competition Briefs - British Music Experience (BME)
This brief was the second part of the first module and required a form of advertising to be developed to promote the British Music Experience at the 02 Arena in London.
This was a really fun design brief and encompassed all things devoted to British Music.
To begin I undertook some research activities into the BME and what the exhibit offered and also what British Music means to me in terms of visual imagery. This was in the form of mind mapping, quick responses and creating mood boards to aid with tone of voice.
I wanted to pursue a very patriotic, Union Jack inspired piece and incorporate iconic British music imagery. It was also important to include the official BME logo and information somewhere in the design.
My final response was to utilise a very British colour palette of red, white and blue. This also linked well with the BME logo and the overall patriotic theme. I developed a Union Jack background in illustrator and manipulated this in Photoshop to achieve a faded look.
Iconic British music imagery was then collaged together and a blue colour overlay added. To tie the piece together I wanted to use a very 1960s mod look with cool Photoshop brushes in circles, hearts, stars and swirls that gave a slightly edgy tone of voice.
The important company information and logo was positioned in a prominent position at the bottom of the page and the swirls and faded edge of the main imagery guides the eye to this point.
I like the final result of this brief as I feel it really does translate a clear and concise message that the BME is all about British music and icons.
